Mini session?
What is a mini session?
When the leaves start to turn and the weather starts to cool, one thing comes to mind every year - after Pumpkin Spice, of course, and that’s “Fall Minis”! The weather isn’t nearly as hot and sticky and the leaves start to change, autumn is such a beautiful time to refresh our family portraits with our loved ones. But what is a mini session and why should I do one? A mini session is just a taste of what a full session would be like with your photographer. It allows you to get a handful of quality photos, in a short, quick session- usually somewhere between 10 & 20 minutes, depending on the photographers preferences with a handful of pictures. The benefits are that you can see what it is like to work with a particular photographer for a lower cost session compared to a full price session and still get some beautiful memories to add to your personal family portfolio. The cons would be that it is such a short session, you won’t get nearly as many images to choose from as you would from a longer session.
What should I wear to my mini photography session?
When planning your outfits for your mini session, there is a lot to consider!
First think of the 3 Cs. Confidence. Comfort. Color.
Confidence because very few things look better than confidence. Wear something you feel good in, something you knooooow you look good in! It’ll help you shine in your photo shoot!
Comfort is important for several reasons. I think if you’re comfortable, you’re more likely to feel confident. Also because, in my case, I love candids and though posed images have their place, candids generally require more movement.
Color is important because you want the pictures to look aesthetically pleasing. When choosing the colors, consider first the location - most fall minis take place outside where you can also see the lovely changing of the leaves. If you are doing a family session, I would first consider my outfit and any other adults. Aim for jewel, earth or neutral tones such as maroon, fall-inspired oranges, or olive colors. Dresses and skirts are often very flattering on femme folx. For our masculine leaning fellows, a nice pair of jeans or khakis, with a color coordinated button up! Generally avoid very busy patterned clothing.But above all- wear what you feel confident in! Once you have figured out your outfit, and then any other adults, move to the kiddos with the same criteria in mind.
What to expect if you book with me!
Who: Your family & me! Includes up to 6 people.
When: October 5th. I am only doing 6 sessions that evening. My sessions will be 20 minutes long.
Where: Greenway Dog Park in Hixson, Tennessee- a nice suburb outside of Chattanooga.
What: My sessions will include 3 high resolution downloads and 3 4x6 prints of the same images, though you can purchase more digital images, prints or even the entire gallery. I also have beautiful products such as albums or folio boxes, framed pictures and canvas wrapped photos for your wall sold separately. With every session, I plan to support local and provide a little locally made gift, I’ve already decided what it’s going to be and I am SO excited about the gift, too! Perfectly fitting for fall. The session cost will be $175.00, with a $75 non-refundable retainer due at booking and the balance due the day of before the shoot.
